NOTE TO WEBMASTERS USING THESE PAGES AS A BASIS FOR YOUR OWN WEATHERWARN SIGNUP PAGES

These pages are free to use and modify to your needs, feel free to use any and all graphics included.

However we ask that you follow these guidelines:

  1. Keep the web site flow and structure intact...its design is based on lots of real life experience in handling viewers. Its structure is designed to prevent problems such as multiple list signups and "how do I?" email messages to you, the webmaster. Of course, we welcome input.

  2. Please keep the pictures and icons in the signup pages....we have learned that viewers will often misread unless there is a picture to go with the links. Feel free to change the pictures though...

  3. We strongly suggest you provide a map (and optionally a table of counties covered, see www.tvweather.com/khslwxwarn for an example) for the areas covered, along with major cities and towns whenever possible...we've learned that viewers are often "geographically challenged" but can usually click on a city they know to get where they are going

To edit these pages for your use you'll need to do these things:

  1. Replace all KXYZ-TV references with your own call letters...just do an Edit Find/Replace All

  2. Make sure all hyperlinks refer to your web site, and not to www.tvweather.com (the exception is the form handler...see next)

  3. Provide state/county maps and clickable imagemap hyperlinks for the email and pager signup pages

  4. Optionally provide a table of coverage area county names/city names for each signup page

  5. Edit the HTML code in each signup/signoff form to direct the Mailaddress1 value to your particular mailing list address...such as KXYZtvemail-metro-request@central.weatherwarn.net   you'll also need to change the machine address portion (@central.weatherwarn.net) to reflect your time zone. Note that the "-request" must be in the email address in order for our server to respond to a subscribe/unsubscribe request.

    Examples:

For eastern EST/EDT time zone KXYZemail-metro-request@eastern.weatherwarn.net

For central CST/CDT time zone KXYZemail-metro-request@central.weatherwarn.net

For mountain MST/MDT time zone KXYZemail-metro-request@mountain.weatherwarn.net

For pacific PST/PDT time zone KXYZemail-metro-request@pacific.weatherwarn.net

  6. Also edit the "Afterpage" value of each form to point to the confirmation HTML document on your own web site. This must be a complete web path such as http://www.KXYZ-tv.com/wxwarn/email_signup_confirm.htm

  7. And finally, edit the "MailAddress2" value (or remove it) to have a copy of all signups and signoff sent to your email monitoring account for WeatherWarn. For security reasons, this should be an account that is different than the one used to distribute your own bulletins to the WeatherWarn system.

  8. Any use of the phrase "WeatherWarn" in your web site MUST be accompanied by a TM symbol as in the graphic at the top of this page.

  9. If your contract calls for a barter and/or discount for web advertising space, the ads to fulfill that can be found at www.weathershop.com/banners please make use of them as they appear on that page.

Thanks for signing with us! We wish WeatherWarn to be the best service possible for your viewers! Technical questions can be directed to: admin@tvweather.com

Best Regards, Anthony Watts, WeatherWarn
